KEITH GILLAN FROM CARLISLE SENTENCED FOR THREATS TO KILL AND KNIFE POSSESSION
On Friday, October 20th, Keith Gillan, a 37-year-old resident of Fairfield Gardens in Carlisle, was formally sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court following his conviction on serious charges.The jury found Gillan guilty of making threats to kill and possessing a bladed weapon, marking a significant legal outcome in this case.
The incident in question occurred on the 18th of March earlier this year.
During the early hours of that day, Gillan forcefully entered the residence of his former partner, creating a tense and dangerous situation.
Inside her home, he issued explicit threats to take her life, an act that understandably caused considerable fear and distress for the victim.
After making these threats, Gillan fled the scene, attempting to escape the immediate consequences of his actions.
However, law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene.
A police dog was deployed and successfully tracked Gillan to a nearby garden, where he was subsequently apprehended.
This swift police action prevented further escalation and ensured Gillan’s detention.
Detective Constable Jess Myers, who is part of the North Cumbria CID, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the case.
She stated, “I am pleased that Gillan has been jailed for his actions.
He is a dangerous bully who attempted to intimidate his victim by threatening to kill her.” The case underscores the seriousness with which authorities treat threats of violence and possession of weapons, especially when they are used to threaten or harm others in the community of Carlisle.
