KEITH CHANCE CAUGHT IN PONTRADDULAIS CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSIVE SCANDAL

In September 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving Keith Chance, a resident of Pontarddulais, who was ultimately sentenced to prison for his involvement in online child exploitation activities. The incident came to light when a vigilant group of paedophile hunters, known as Shield of Innocence, created fake profiles mimicking 13-year-old girls named Sky and Gemma on July 12. These profiles were designed to lure individuals with malicious intent, and Chance, using the alias 'Chance Boyo' and claiming to be 34 years old, engaged with these decoys through chat platforms.

Chance initiated contact with the profile of Sky, greeting her with a seemingly innocent yet suggestive message, 'Hi there beautiful.' The decoy clearly indicated that she was a 13-year-old girl, yet Chance continued the conversation, asking how she had accessed the adult chat website 'MeetForYou,' which was not intended for minors. When she admitted to lying about her age, Chance pressed further, inquiring if she used Snapchat or WhatsApp, and complimented her appearance, describing her as 'beautiful and gorgeous.'

During the exchange, Chance revealed disturbing details about his own sexual history, claiming he had his first sexual experience at the age of seven. He offered to teach her about sex, claiming it was to help her 'not be scared' of sexual activity. The conversation escalated as he described kissing her and then moved on to more explicit sexual acts, even suggesting he would start by kissing her before describing more graphic activities.

When the chat slowed down, Chance reinitiated contact, demonstrating persistent predatory behavior. The court also heard about a separate exchange with the profile of Gemma, another 13-year-old decoy. In this interaction, Chance again initiated the conversation, asking if she had WhatsApp, which she provided. Once on the messaging platform, he described how he had been touching himself while looking at her photo and then sent a video of himself masturbating, encouraging her to watch until the end.

It was revealed that Keith Chance had an extensive criminal record, with 19 convictions spanning 42 offences, including a variety of previous crimes. His history underscored a pattern of concerning behavior.

Judge Keith Thomas, presiding over the case at Swansea Crown Court, condemned Chance's actions, stating, 'A group of individuals created fictitious profiles pretending to be 13-year-old girls. You found them and started exchanging messages with them. At one point, you suggested you gave Sky her first sexual experience. In your contact with Gemma, you sent a picture of yourself masturbating.' The judge emphasized Chance's shame when confronted by the decoys, noting the severity of his misconduct.

As a result of his conviction, Keith Chance was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order that will last for ten years and is required to sign the sex offenders register for the same duration, marking a significant legal response to his predatory online behavior.
