OLDHAM AUDIOLOGIST KASIM ALI CAUGHT IN CHILD SEX PREDATION PLOT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS

In August 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Kasim Ali, a 23-year-old former healthcare worker from Oldham, who became the subject of a criminal investigation after engaging in inappropriate online conduct targeting what he believed was a young girl.

The incident unfolded when Ali, claiming to be an audiologist working at North Manchester General Hospital, sent explicit messages and an inappropriate photograph to a person posing as a 12-year-old girl, part of a sting operation conducted by the 'Silent Justice' group, which aims to expose potential sex offenders.

Ali’s conversations with the decoy, who was pretending to be a girl named ‘Emily,’ began on a dating website in September.

During their exchanges, Ali boasted about his professional role, stating that his job as an audiologist gave him ‘access to children,’ a comment that revealed his inappropriate mindset and was used as evidence of grooming behavior.

Despite ‘Emily’ explicitly stating she was only 12 years old, Ali continued to exchange messages, swapping phone numbers and requesting to move their conversation to WhatsApp, citing its ‘perceived security and privacy’ as reasons for his choice of app.

The court heard that the communication quickly turned sexual in nature.

Prosecutor Duncan Wilcox detailed that Ali sent ‘Emily’ a photograph of himself lying in bed, and then asked her to send explicit images in return.

Ali also sent a graphic image of a man’s genitals and described lewd acts he wanted ‘Emily’ to perform, instructing her to delete the messages afterward to avoid detection by her parents.

Throughout the exchanges, Ali’s comments reflected a disturbing level of intent and a desire to conceal his actions.

Further evidence was gathered when police searched Ali’s residence.

They identified his bedroom and duvet cover from the photo he had sent to ‘Emily,’ confirming his identity and location.

During police interviews, Ali denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he had never used the dating site and that his details had been hacked.

However, he later pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a child under 13 into non-penetrative sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

His arrest and subsequent confrontation by members of the Silent Justice group were captured on video, which was later shared online.

The footage showed the group confronting Ali outside his home in Oldham and waiting for police to arrive.

The police also recovered evidence linking Ali to the crimes, including the bedroom and duvet cover seen in the explicit photo.

Judge Angela Nield presided over the case at Minshull Street Crown Court.

She acknowledged the serious nature of the offenses, noting the element of grooming and the significant age disparity between Ali and the decoy.

She emphasized that if a real child had been involved, Ali would have faced immediate imprisonment.

Recognizing that no actual children were harmed during the incident, the judge considered the possibility of rehabilitation and the importance of community-based sentencing.

As part of his sentence, Ali was given a three-year community order, which requires him to participate in a specialized sex offender treatment program.

Additionally, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, imposing strict restrictions on his future interactions with children and vulnerable adults.

Ali is now barred from working with minors and vulnerable individuals, reflecting the court’s efforts to prevent any future harm.

Judge Nield concluded her remarks by highlighting the gravity of the case, stating, “Emily didn’t exist, happily, for you and for her, and no child was harmed by these offenses.

If this had involved a real child under 13, a custodial sentence would have been inevitable and immediate.

Your actions have effectively sentenced yourself, leading to the loss of your career, public humiliation, and disapproval from your close-knit community.

You have brought shame upon your family, and these consequences serve as a stark reminder of the seriousness of such offenses.”
