PARALYSED WOMAN WOUNDED WITH KNIFE BY EX AFTER SHARING ALCOHOL
A woman with paralysis was injured with a knife by her former partner after they consumed 18 cans of lager and a bottle of whisky together.
Karl Green was prohibited from visiting the woman but deceived her into believing that his restraining order had expired.
After drinking heavily, the 42-year-old brandished a kitchen knife and waved it around as the woman attempted to defend herself.
She sustained cuts to her finger and arm, the latter of which was not paralyzed.
Green, residing on Trafalgar Road, Washington, was sentenced to 22 months in prison after admitting to assault and violating a restraining order.
The court was informed that this was Green’s sixth violation of the order issued in 2015.
The victim, who is paralyzed on one side, suffered three cuts to her forearm and a cut tendon in her finger.
Prosecutor Jessica Slaughter explained that Green convinced her to let him into her Sunderland home for a drink, then moved toward her, causing her to fear an attack.
She raised her hand in self-defense, resulting in her being cut.
Judge Margia Mostafa described Green’s conduct as a very serious domestic assault and sentenced him to 22 months in custody.
