JEALOUS DEVON MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX WITH BASEBALL BAT
A jealous Devon man named Kallum Warren, aged 25, has been sentenced to jail after a violent incident involving his ex-girlfriend.Warren, from Bideford, was involved in a drunken rage where he strangled her, hit her with a baseball bat, and assaulted her physically and verbally.
The court heard that Warren put his hands around the woman's throat and squeezed, which caused her significant fear.
He then slapped her about 20 times while laughing, and used a baseball bat to strike her face, leaving visible bruises. The incident occurred on the early hours of October 21 after Warren read her text messages, which made him furious.
The court was told he pushed and grabbed her before hitting her in the face with the bat.
Over several hours, he continued to torment her, refusing to give back her phone and even pointing an unloaded air rifle at her, ordering her to raise her hands while discharging it in a different direction, which produced only an air shot sound.
Warren's violence extended to an incident on the street later that evening when he attacked another man.Warren, who admitted to three charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and possessing an imitation firearm with intent, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The judge, David Evans, commented that Warren's drunken rage and controlling behavior were unacceptable and warned that such aggressive conduct is seen too often.
Despite showing some remorse and being diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and anxiety, the court concluded that the incidents were too serious to warrant a lesser sentence, emphasizing the brutality of the assault and the fear caused to the victim.
