DEVON MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A 27-year-old Devon man has been jailed for sexual activity with a child.Ellis Mace, formerly of Bideford, has been locked up for three years.
The defendant appeared at Exeter Crown Court to be sentenced for two offences.
Mace admitted being a person over 18 who engaged in penetrative sexual activity with a child on more than one occasion.
Judge David Evans was told the offences involved consensual sexual intercourse.
He said there was a 'significant disparity' in the ages of Mace and the victim.
When police arrested the defendant in 2024 he admitted what he had done.
He is a man of previous good character.
Nikki Coombe, defending, said Mace 'very much regrets' his behaviour and takes full responsibility for it.
Judge Evans said Mace was a hard-working man who had lost his good character and is now a registered sex offender.
"Because of your commission of these offences you will be subject to notification provisions for the foreseeable future," the judge told him.
The defendant, of Clive Road, Oxford, was told he will serve half of his three-year sentence in jail and the rest on licence.
