GREAT YARMOUTH DEPUTY HARBOURMASTER JULIAN CAGE CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND EXTREME PORN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Great Yarmouth, Julian Cage, a 45-year-old man serving as the deputy harbourmaster, was found to be in possession of highly inappropriate and illegal material on his personal computer.The incident came to light during a police search conducted at his residence, located on Wellesley Road, which uncovered a troubling collection of images and videos.
According to the prosecution presented at Norwich Crown Court, law enforcement officials discovered a series of videos containing extreme pornography on Cage’s laptop.
In addition to these videos, authorities found a total of 25 indecent images depicting children, which were stored on the same device.
The severity of the material was emphasized during the court proceedings, highlighting the disturbing nature of the content involved.
Julian Cage faced multiple charges, including three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material.
During the hearing, Cage admitted to the charges, which led to a detailed discussion of his case.
His defense attorney, Peter Spary, argued that the child abuse images were confined to a single laptop and that the extreme pornographic videos were stored on older videotapes, suggesting a possible lack of ongoing possession.
Despite the nature of the evidence, the court acknowledged Cage’s previously good character and his position of responsibility within the community.
Prosecutors and the judge noted that Cage was employed in an important role, which added to the gravity of the situation.
Judge Stephen Holt sentenced Cage to eight months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months, allowing him to avoid immediate incarceration.
The judge also took into account Cage’s guilty plea and his apparent remorse, which contributed to the decision to suspend the sentence.
The court also ordered Cage to be placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years, reflecting the serious nature of his offenses and the ongoing need for monitoring and public safety.
