BLACKPOOL MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING TO BOMB VICTIM AFTER ASSAULT AND INTIMIDATION
A vicious individual identified as Joshua Martin Brodie, aged 26, from Normos Avenue, was convicted after assaulting and burning a woman and subsequently threatening to bomb her house and send people to harm her family following her complaint to police.Brodie launched a campaign of intimidation against the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in an effort to persuade her to withdraw her allegations.
He explicitly threatened to "bomb her house and send people to hurt her and her family." Brodie pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to several offenses, including assault.
The court sentenced him to a total of 12 years in prison, with Judge Jefferies QC declaring him a 'dangerous offender'.
The sentence included eight years imprisonment and a further four years extended licence period.
Speaking after the hearing, DC Laura Plant of Blackpool CID remarked, "Brodie is an extremely nasty individual who not only physically assaulted the victim but then also subjected her to intimidation and abuse after she bravely came forward to report what he had done.
He demonstrated controlling, possessive behavior and committed horrendous physical and mental abuse.
He made threats to seriously harm her, leaving her fearing for her life.
I am glad the Judge recognized the seriousness of Brodie’s offending and classed him as a dangerous offender, meaning he will continue to be monitored after release.
The victim displayed extraordinary bravery throughout this process, and I commend her for it." The article emphasizes the importance of reporting crimes and offers contact information for police and support services.
