STOKE-ON-TRENT MAN, 26, PLEADS GUILTY TO EXPOSURE AND ASSAULT
Joseph Severn, aged 26, was involved in a police stand-off during which he displayed bizarre and offensive conduct, including being naked, covered in feces, and applying bubble bath to himself in an eight-minute chase recorded on police body cameras.
The incident began after he was seen performing a sexual act in public and running without clothes through Adderley Green in Stoke, having escaped through his ex-girlfriend’s bathroom window.
He was subsequently found crouching near a door with his genitals exposed and trying to insert a finger into his anus.
During arrest, he threw a mop bucket filled with water at officers and bit a police officer, leaving a bite injury that required antibiotics.
Severn resisted arrest and tried to climb over a fence, making sexually explicit comments in the process.
He pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, exposure, criminal damage, and assaulting emergency workers.
He was sentenced to 21 months in jail, issued a three-year restraining order, and registered as a sex offender for seven years.
The sentencing judge reminded that breaching the restraining order could lead to further court action.
