2013: HUSBAND JAILED FOR TWO YEARS AFTER VICIOUS ATTACK ON WIFE AND HER LOVER
Joseph Hickey, who attacked his wife at the residential care facility where she was employed and subsequently tried to inflict harm on her new partner, was sentenced to a two-year prison term.According to Bolton Crown Court, on Christmas Eve, Hickey, distressed over his marriage ending, arrived at Southlands Residential Care Home in Breightmet, where Linda Hickey worked.
He assaulted her by punching her in the face, resulting in a broken nose, and she fell to the floor.
Hickey then continued with a barrage of kicks, stamping, and hair pulling until staff managed to stop him.
Judge Davies explained that four staff members struggled to control him, underscoring the severity of his outburst.
Later that day, Hickey drove to Bradford Street in Farnworth, the home of his wife’s new partner, Adam Davenport.
There, he forced entry and attacked Davenport, at one point attempting to gouge his eyes out, before being pushed out of the house.
Additionally, Hickey had brought a knife from his van, stabbed the tyres of Davenport’s car, and smashed both the vehicle and house windows.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of criminal damage, and illegal possession of a public weapon.
A two-year restraining order was imposed, barring Hickey from contacting Mrs.
Hickey or Mr.
Davenport and from entering their residence.
