JOSEPH BAILEY FROM COALVILLE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LEICESTER
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Coalville, a young man named Joseph Bailey has been found guilty of multiple serious child sexual offences. The proceedings took place at Leicester Crown Court, where Bailey, aged 19 and residing on Robin Road in Coalville, admitted to a series of heinous crimes involving minors.Bailey pleaded guilty earlier this month to a range of charges that paint a disturbing picture of his actions. These charges included one count of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, which is a particularly grave offence given the vulnerability of the victim involved. Additionally, he admitted to causing a young girl to watch a sexual act, which further underscores the severity of his misconduct.
Furthermore, Bailey was charged with voyeurism, a crime that involves secretly observing or recording others in private settings without their consent. The court also found him guilty of possessing indecent images of children, with evidence pointing to at least one image in each of the categories A, B, and C, indicating a range of explicit material involving minors.
His sentencing on Tuesday, June 23, resulted in a total prison term of 21 months, which was suspended for two years. This means Bailey will not serve time immediately but will be under supervision and subject to certain conditions during this period. The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years, restricting his activities and contact with minors. Additionally, Bailey was ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
The case against Bailey was initiated following a report received by police in April 2018. The mother of a young girl contacted authorities, revealing that she had information suggesting her daughter’s image had been shared inappropriately. This led to a detailed investigation by specialist officers who spoke with the girl. She disclosed that she had been communicating with Bailey online and that they had met in person in January 2018. During this meeting, Bailey engaged in a sexual act with the 12-year-old girl. She also revealed that she had sent Bailey an indecent image of herself, and that Bailey had reciprocated by sending an indecent image of himself.
Following this disclosure, police executed a warrant at Bailey’s residence in May 2018. Digital devices including computers, hard drives, and mobile phones were seized and subjected to thorough forensic examination. The investigation uncovered additional offences, including the possession of further indecent images of children and instances of voyeurism. These findings contributed to the charges brought against Bailey, who subsequently pleaded guilty in court earlier this month, avoiding a lengthy trial and confirming his involvement in these serious crimes.
