MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING A CHILD
Jordan Woods, now aged 27, was involved in the sexual assault of a schoolgirl nearly ten years ago in the North Tyneside region.
After keeping quiet for several years, the victim reported the incident to authorities in 2022.
Woods was then taken into custody and questioned by police, during which he denied the allegations.
In July 2023, Woods, residing on Railway Terrace in North Shields, faced charges of sexual assault through unwanted touching and encouraging a girl under 13 to participate in a sexual act.
He appeared before Newcastle Crown Court in January, where a jury convicted him of both charges following a trial.
He was then sentenced at the same court to a term of two years and two months in prison.
Given the case’s specific circumstances, Woods was sentenced as an individual under 18.
As part of his punishment, Woods will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years and was issued a restraining order to ensure the victim's protection.
