BRUTAL LOVER SLAYS GIRLFRIEND WITH 80 STABS IN JEALOUS RAGE
Jordan Taylor, who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend Laura Davies, received a life sentence from the court. It was revealed that Taylor assaulted Miss Davies near the Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society in Basildon, his place of residence and work.
The incident was marked by extreme violence, with Miss Davies being stabbed 80 times in what was described as a 'jealous rage.' Judge Charles Gratwicke characterized the killing as 'a brutal and sick, callous murder.' At the time of the attack, Taylor was 22 years old and denied involvement in the murder; however, evidence presented during the trial led to his conviction by a jury at Chelmsford Crown Court.
The court noted that Taylor tried to exert control over the 21-year-old Miss Davies and exhibited jealous and ruthless behavior.
The assault started inside her flat and continued outside as she attempted to flee, with proofs indicating Taylor used such force that theknife bent at a 45-degree angle.
During proceedings, Taylor claimed he acted in self-defence after she reportedly attacked him, but the prosecution argued that his actions were vicious and sustained.
The judge ordered a life sentence with a minimum of 23 years to be served.
Laura Davies' mother, Mrs.
Lambert, expressed her relief that Taylor would be detained for a long period, stating, 'Twenty-three years is long, but it will not bring our baby back.' Family members paid tribute to Laura, emphasizing her love for animals and describing how her loss profoundly affected their lives.
The court highlighted the brutality of the attack and Taylor's apparent lack of remorse, condemning his act as an appalling murder that devastated her family.
