JORDAN SAUNDERS FROM GOSPORT AND SOUTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY SEX OFFENCES AGAINST GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Gosport and Southampton, 18-year-old Jordan Saunders has been sentenced to three years in a young offenders' institution after admitting to multiple child sex offences involving three young girls.The case highlights a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several months and involved the use of digital communication to exploit vulnerable minors.
According to court reports, Saunders, who was homeless at the time but formerly resided in Gosport, targeted three girls, with two of these encounters taking place at Eastleigh train station.
Surveillance footage captured Saunders engaging in inappropriate and sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl at the station when he was just 17 years old.
The CCTV evidence was pivotal in establishing his guilt, showing him in the act and providing concrete proof of his misconduct.
Further investigations revealed that Saunders had sent explicit messages to the victims, urging them to send photographs of themselves.
He also shared indecent images himself, demonstrating a clear pattern of grooming and exploitation.
Prosecutor Timothy Moores detailed how Saunders had previously been given a suspended sentence after being caught on CCTV at the same train station engaging in sexual activity with a different 13-year-old girl.
This prior conviction underscored the seriousness of his actions and the ongoing risk he posed.
Just eight days after receiving the suspended sentence, Saunders made contact with another girl, aged 15.
During this interaction, she reported feeling pressured to send him photographs of her breasts, indicating a continued pattern of coercive behavior.
The court heard that Saunders also communicated with a third girl, discussing topics related to sex toys and later meeting her at Eastleigh train station, where he again engaged in inappropriate conduct, including groping her.
During sentencing, Recorder Rufus Taylor emphasized the danger Saunders represented, stating, “You are and do pose a serious risk.” The court noted that Saunders had previously been handed an 18-month suspended sentence after admitting to three offences involving sexual activity with a child.
Despite this, he continued his offending behavior, which led to the current charges.
In addition to the sexual offences, Saunders admitted to failing to report for unpaid work, breaching sex offender notification requirements, and violating a sexual harm prevention order by deleting apps from his phone and staying at an address for more than seven days.
He also faced charges related to communicating with a child for sexual gratification, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
The court sentenced Saunders to serve his term in a young offenders' institution.
He is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for the next ten years.
All of his phones were confiscated and subsequently destroyed as part of the proceedings, underscoring the severity of the case and the measures taken to prevent further harm.
