JORDAN PROCTOR'S BRUTAL ATTACK ON PUG MORGAN IN WHITWORTH LEADS TO JAIL SENTENCE
In May 2008, a disturbing incident unfolded in the quiet town of Whitworth, involving local resident Jordan Ashley Proctor, born on 16 April 1990, of Thorburn Drive. Proctor, who had a known history of violent behavior, became the center of a criminal case after a savage attack on a defenseless animal.According to court reports, the incident began during an argument at a nearby pub between Proctor and the owner of a small pug named Morgan, identified as Eloise Crossley. The disagreement escalated quickly, and during the heated exchange, Proctor made a threatening remark, warning that he might do something harmful to Morgan. The tension did not subside, and shortly after, Proctor left the pub.
What followed was a shocking act of cruelty. Proctor made his way to Miss Crossley's residence, which was accessible via the back door of her home. Without hesitation, he entered and armed himself with a kitchen knife. In a brutal and unprovoked attack, he inflicted a single stab wound to Morgan, the innocent dog. The attack left Morgan severely injured, suffering from shock and significant blood loss.
Emergency services responded swiftly, rushing Morgan to a veterinary clinic for urgent treatment. Despite efforts to save her, the injuries proved fatal, and Morgan was euthanized due to the severity of her wounds. The incident drew widespread condemnation from the local community and animal welfare advocates.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Proctor was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the attack, which may have contributed to his violent behavior. The court heard that Proctor had a history of criminal activity and was considered a violent career criminal.
In June 2009, Proctor, who was also a father of one, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. His plea resulted in a jail sentence of 150 days. Additionally, he was banned from keeping any animals for a period of five years, a ban that expired in 2014. The case highlighted issues surrounding animal cruelty and the importance of monitoring individuals with violent histories to prevent such tragic incidents from recurring in communities like Whitworth.
