A man responsible for causing a series of severe and fatal injuries to his four-month-old daughter has been sentenced to prison.
Jordan Lee, aged 29 and from Blackpool, was heard yelling at baby Willow to "shut up" prior to violently punching and shaking her during a brutal assault.
He initially lied about how his daughter sustained her injuries, claiming she had simply fallen off a sofa, but later changed his account when evidence was presented, suggesting that she had been hurt through forceful shaking and impact.
Willow was first taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and then transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where she died on December 6.
The court heard that her death was caused by a traumatic head injury, consistent with being shaken violently and possibly struck.
Medical examinations revealed injuries that indicated severe trauma, exceeding what one might expect from minor childhood accidents, including extensive bruising on her face, ear, and arm.
The pathologist explained these injuries appeared to be caused by gripping, pinching, squeezing, punching, or slapping, inflicting considerable pain and suffering.
According to a Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson, witnesses in the vicinity heard a baby crying, a man shouting at her to be quiet, and sounds of banging, before silence settled over the house.
