JORDAN IVANCIC SENTENCED IN INVERURIE FOR THREATS AND ASSAULTS INVOLVING WOMEN AND CHILDREN
A 27-year-old man from Inverurie, Jordan Ivancic, has been sentenced to a year in prison following a series of alarming and violent incidents that included threats of arson and physical assault. The case was heard at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where Ivancic pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to threatening behaviour, abusive messages, and an assault involving a child.According to court records, Ivancic issued a disturbing series of threats after a woman exposed his infidelity to his girlfriend. In a chilling display of hostility, he threatened to set fire to her home with a petrol bomb while her child was inside. The court was shown messages in which Ivancic told the woman she was “dead” and warned that he was heading to her residence to attack it with a petrol bomb. He also made explicit threats to harm her child, stating he was “going to throw a petrol bomb into your bairn’s window” and even used violent language, saying he would “blow your house up” and inject her with heroin.
These threats came after Ivancic had spent the night at the woman’s house. When she contacted him the following day to ask why he hadn’t called, he responded that he was with his girlfriend. Subsequently, she messaged Ivancic’s partner, revealing his overnight stay. In retaliation, Ivancic launched a barrage of threatening messages, including the declaration that she was “dead” and the explicit threat to attack her home with a petrol bomb.
Further disturbing incidents occurred days later. On January 21, Ivancic directed abusive messages and calls at another woman, accusing her of being pregnant and using drugs. The situation escalated on May 26, when Ivancic arrived at her home at around 2 a.m. and attempted to force his way inside. During this attempt, he kicked the door with such force that it struck her young son, and he also banged on the windows in an apparent effort to intimidate those inside.
Ivancic admitted to multiple charges, including threatening and abusive behaviour, sending menacing messages, breaching a court order, and assaulting a child. His solicitor, Mike Monro, described Ivancic as having an immature and distorted view of how women should regard him. Monro explained that one of the women had sent photos of Ivancic in her bed to his girlfriend, which prompted his aggressive reaction—though he acknowledged that Ivancic’s response was “clearly unacceptable.” The lawyer also noted that Ivancic’s temper had caused significant issues in his life.
During the sentencing, Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane criticised Ivancic’s attitude, pointing out that he had shown little remorse and had even blamed others for his actions in a report about his conduct. She highlighted the fact that Ivancic injured a young boy who was only trying to protect his mother, and she dismissed any excuses related to a troubled upbringing, emphasizing that Ivancic had enjoyed a good childhood.
Ivancic, who resides on Downie Way in Kemnay, was sentenced to serve 12 months in prison. Additionally, he was issued two non-harassment orders that will prevent him from contacting the two women involved in the incidents for the next two years, aiming to protect them from further harm.
