JORDAN DORIAN FROM WANTAGE JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN OXFORDSHIRE

In a case that has shocked the local community of Wantage and the wider Oxfordshire area, Jordan Dorian, a young man once regarded as a promising athlete, has been sentenced to prison for engaging in the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. The incident has brought to light disturbing details about the grooming process and the manipulative behavior exhibited by Dorian, who was 23 years old at the time of sentencing.

Jordan Dorian, who resided on Springfield Road in Wantage, was a sprinter affiliated with Radley Athletics Club. His reputation as an athlete was notable, having represented his club, county, and even at the national level in the 200-meter sprint. Despite his athletic achievements, his actions have now overshadowed his sporting career, leading to a significant legal consequence.

The court proceedings revealed that Dorian admitted to two serious charges: one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child and another of inciting a child to participate in sexual activities. The court was told that Dorian showed no visible emotion as he was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court, reflecting perhaps a lack of remorse or emotional response to the gravity of his crimes.

The case originated from Dorian’s initial contact with the victim via social media platforms Facebook and Snapchat in March 2015. At that time, the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had asked if anyone could help her get alcohol, using the phrase ‘get served’. Dorian responded to her message, claiming he could assist, and this exchange marked the beginning of their inappropriate relationship.

As their communication progressed, Dorian and the girl engaged in a sexual relationship, with Dorian sending her indecent photographs on her mobile phone. During the grooming process, Dorian also sent threatening messages, warning her that if she told anyone about their interactions, he would abandon her. The court heard that Dorian was 20 years old when he first contacted her, and he expressed anger upon discovering her actual age of 13, mistakenly believing she was at least 14.

Prosecutor Isabel Delamere highlighted that the girl eventually reported the abuse due to Dorian’s controlling behavior. She emphasized that Dorian was fully aware of her age throughout their interactions. The victim’s personal statement was read aloud in court, revealing that she felt ‘emotionally destroyed’ by the ordeal and has since suffered from anxiety and depression as a result.

During the sentencing, Dorian’s defense lawyer, Darren Samat, described his client as a man of previously good character who had shown a lack of maturity. The lawyer also noted that Dorian had a promising career, currently working at a nuclear waste disposal facility, and expressed remorse for his actions.

Ultimately, Jordan Dorian was sentenced to 52 months in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of online grooming and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people from exploitation and abuse.
