JORDAN BLOOR'S BRUTAL ATTACK IN DERBY: A COWARDLY OUTBURST OF VIOLENCE IN ALVASTON

In a harrowing incident that has shocked the community of Derby, particularly the residents of Alvaston, Jordan Bloor, a 21-year-old man from Stockbrook, carried out a violent assault on a woman who was a mother of two. The attack unfolded after Bloor forcibly entered her home, leading to a terrifying ordeal that lasted over an hour and left lasting scars on the victim both physically and emotionally.

According to proceedings at Derby Crown Court, Bloor's assault was characterized by extreme brutality. He subjected the woman to a relentless tirade of violence, beginning with strangulation that left her helpless on the floor. The court heard that Bloor punched her in the head approximately twelve times and kicked her face repeatedly, inflicting serious injuries. The severity of the attack was underscored by Recorder Nicholas Bacon QC, who described the incident as an 'extraordinary outburst of violence' that persisted for more than 60 minutes. The judge condemned the attack as a 'cowardly and disgraceful episode,' emphasizing the brutality and cowardice involved.

The victim, deeply affected by the trauma, delivered a heartfelt impact statement during the sentencing. She revealed that the assault has haunted her every moment since it occurred. Her mental health has suffered significantly, and she has been unable to return to her home, instead sleeping on sofas as she struggles to cope with the aftermath. Her words underscored the profound impact of Bloor's actions on her life.

During the court proceedings, Bloor pleaded guilty to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. As a result, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Additionally, the court imposed an indefinite restraining order, explicitly prohibiting him from contacting or visiting the victim to prevent further harm.

Prosecutor Stefan Fox provided context for the attack, stating that it was triggered after Bloor's failed attempts to meet the woman in July. The assault was initiated when Bloor forcibly entered her home, leading to a prolonged and violent confrontation. The court also highlighted Bloor's criminal history, which includes 12 previous convictions for 18 offenses. These offenses encompass violence, possession of an offensive weapon, and conspiracy to supply cannabis, painting a picture of a troubled individual with a history of criminal behavior.

Representing Bloor, his barrister John Richards acknowledged his client's shame and struggles with substance abuse, including issues with alcohol and drugs. Richards noted that Bloor had lost a forklift driving job due to the impacts of Covid-19 and had relapsed into drinking, which may have contributed to his violent outburst. Despite these mitigating factors, the court and judge made it clear that the gravity of the assault warranted serious consequences. The judge concluded with a stern warning, stating, 'You must never see her again,' underscoring the severity of the case and the need to protect the victim from further harm.
