COWBRIDGE MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND STALKING EX-WIFE
A man named Jonathan Wignall, aged 54, from Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, was jailed for three years for controlling and coercive behavior and stalking his former wife, ITV weather presenter Ruth Dodsworth.
Wignall subjected Ruth to years of harassment, including setting alarms to monitor her work schedule, rang her dozens of times daily, and was involved in frightening behavior such as placing a tracking device on her car and leaving a recorded psychic message in her vehicle.
The court heard that Wignall would demand access to her phone, check her messages, and delete contacts he disapproved of.
He also attended her TV studio and followed her to her work locations, causing her to be isolated from friends and family.
The judge described him as a "high risk" to his ex-wife, emphasizing his possessive and bullying conduct, and imposed a restraining order banning contact with Ruth.
