JONATHAN GODSON FROM JERSEY SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY DISTRIBUTION
In April 2013, a man from Jersey was sentenced to serve eight years in prison after being found guilty of possessing and distributing a vast collection of indecent images of children.The individual, identified as Jonathan Richard Godson, aged 49, was implicated in the circulation of nearly 70,000 such images, which he supplied through two separate websites.
Godson held the role of administrator for a website dedicated to sharing these illicit images, a position that facilitated the widespread dissemination of material depicting minors in exploitative situations.
Authorities from Jersey Police confirmed that he posed a significant threat to young people, emphasizing the danger his actions represented to the community.
Detective Inspector Paul Kennea provided a detailed account of the case, stating, “Jonathan Godson was a prolific supplier of indecent images of children, and it is likely this behavior would have persisted had he not been apprehended.” He further explained that Godson was not merely a consumer of such material but actively engaged in sharing it with others, thereby encouraging further offenses and exacerbating the suffering endured by victims.
According to police reports, Godson possessed thousands of images and hours of video content involving minors.
