JEALOUS MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE ATTACK AFTER FINDING PARTNER WITH ANOTHER MAN
A man named Jonathan Doran, aged 35, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for launching into a furious and violent rage after discovering another man, Thomas Bates, in bed with his partner.Doran returned home earlier than expected on August 17 of the previous year and found Bates half-naked in bed with Rachael Frost, his partner.
In a fit of rage, Doran battered both victims, leaving them with serious injuries.
Bates sustained a bleed on the brain, a broken nose, swelling, and cuts to his left ear and lips, and spent two days in hospital.
He described his injuries as including a small bleed on the brain and lacerations, and was found wandering topless in the area after the attack.
Ms Frost suffered a cut to her head, black eye, and swollen nose and lips.
Doran had been due to travel abroad for a training course but instead returned home to find Bates and Frost together.
Despite claiming that nothing romantic had happened, Doran's violent reaction resulted in heavy injuries.
The court heard that Doran was remorseful, having lost his home, job, and relationship, and had prior convictions for drugs and driving offences, though he had turned his life around before this incident.
Judge David Aubrey QC sentenced him to 30 months in prison, noting that Doran drew certain conclusions upon seeing Bates half-naked and let his anger control him.
The court found that Doran was the aggressor and that Ms Frost was also struck more than once, with her injuries substantiated by police reports and bodycam footage.
Additionally, Doran made abusive phone calls to her family afterward.
Doran had a history of violence, including time in a young offenders institute after an incident at age 18, but had been doing well with a skilled job before this incident.
The sentencing included the jail term along with the activation of an eight-week suspended sentence for refusing a drug test after a drunken driving incident.
The article emphasizes the gravity of the assault and the consequences for Doran, including his loss of a career opportunity and ongoing personal remorse.
