JAIL FOR BIRKENHEAD PAEDOPHILE JONATHAN DAVIES WHO EXPOSED HIMSELF TO SCHOOLGIRLS IN WIRRAL
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Birkenhead and the wider Wirral area, Jonathan Davies, a man with a long history of sexual offences, has been sentenced to prison after a series of alarming incidents involving schoolgirls. The court heard that Davies, aged 40 and residing on Borough Road in Birkenhead, had been lurking outside a school in Wirral for hours before he committed his heinous acts, exposing himself to four young girls who were simply trying to go about their day.
Judge Steven Everett, presiding over the case at Liverpool Crown Court, described Davies’ criminal record as one of the worst he had encountered.
It was revealed that Davies had previously committed 72 offences, including sexual assaults and multiple instances of indecent exposure.
The judge emphasized the danger Davies posed to young girls, stating that if it were within his power, he would have imposed an even longer sentence to protect the community.
The incident in question took place on November 15 of this year.
The court was told that Davies began following two pupils as they walked along Ford Road, heading back to Upton Hall Grammar School after visiting a nearby café.
As the girls became aware of his presence, they quickened their pace, but Davies also increased his speed.
When they turned around, they saw him with his trousers around his ankles, engaged in a sexual act.
This shocking display left the girls terrified and deeply distressed.
Later that same afternoon, another young girl was sitting at a bus stop with a friend when Davies, who was standing nearby, brushed up against her inappropriately while exposing his genitals.
The court further heard that shortly after, an 11-year-old pupil also witnessed Davies exposing himself and performing a sexual act.
Prosecutor Chris Taylor detailed these incidents, highlighting the pattern of behaviour that Davies had exhibited.
Davies admitted to breaching a previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which had explicitly required him to stay away from schools and young girls, and to abstain from alcohol.
He also pleaded guilty to three counts of exposure.
Despite these admissions, Judge Everett expressed his frustration, noting that Davies should have been charged with sexual assault for touching one of the schoolgirls, which could have resulted in a longer prison term.
However, the judge stated, “I cannot pass the sentence you deserve.” During the hearing, Davies appeared via video link from prison.
The psychological report presented to the court revealed that Davies’ inhibitions diminish significantly when he consumes alcohol, leading to his inappropriate behaviour, including exposure and indecent acts.
The judge remarked that Davies’ criminal record for such offences was among the worst he had seen and warned that Davies is so entrenched in his behaviour that he is unlikely to change.
“It is crystal clear that sadly you are so set in your ways you cannot stop yourself exposing yourself to young children,” Judge Everett said.
“I have little doubt there are times that you are so uninhibited you will sexually assault children.” The judge also expressed concern about the lasting impact on the victims, stating that Davies’ actions could have lifelong effects on the girls involved.
“You posed a significant risk of reoffending, and your behaviour in following those girls could affect their lives forever,” he added.
Defence lawyer Mark Lever acknowledged the severity of Davies’ situation, noting that the psychological report indicated his entrenched views and lifestyle are unlikely to change, especially under the influence of alcohol.
He admitted that Davies has been offending for nearly 25 years and is considered institutionalised, which significantly increases the risk of further offences.
The court ultimately sentenced Davies to four years and two months in prison, with an order to sign the sex offenders register for life, marking a stern response to his repeated and disturbing criminal behaviour in Birkenhead and the Wirral area.
