JON GORDON SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON IN WITHAM FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man with a history of over 40 child sex offences has been sentenced to eight years in prison.Jon Gordon, aged 43, was detained after officers from the Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) executed a warrant at his residence on Gershwin Boulevard, Witham, in December 2018.
The operation was initiated based on information suggesting he had been engaging in sexual communications with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old child.
During the arrest, officers confiscated 33 items, discovering more than 1,200 indecent images and videos of child abuse on five of these devices.
Additionally, they uncovered approximately 6,500 conversations on Skype involving 900 contacts, including evidence that Gordon had communicated with both boys and girls under the age of 18.
He faced and admitted to 45 child sexual offence charges, which included sexual communications with a minor, inciting a child to perform sexual acts, and possession of indecent images of children.
Gordon pled guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court on February 24.
On April 13, he was sentenced to a total of eight years' imprisonment at the same court.
Detective Sergeant Samantha Lewin of POLIT stated, "Jon Gordon is a dangerous sexual predator who sought out and preyed upon underage boys and girls for his own sexual gratification.
He possessed a significant collection of child abuse images and videos, and the sheer number of charges reflected the breadth of his offending.
I am confident that Essex is a safer place now that he is behind bars."
