JOHNNY LAW SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN SOUTHSEA: SHOCKING CRIME INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southsea, Johnny Law, aged 38, was convicted of heinous crimes involving a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place after Law, a resident of Green Road in Southsea, was found guilty by a jury at Portsmouth Crown Court of raping the young teenager. The court proceedings revealed that Law had lured the girl by providing her with cannabis, which he had been abusing regularly along with cocaine, although he claimed to have recently stopped using drugs while in custody.During the trial, it was established that Law had a history of criminal behavior related to sexual offenses. Notably, he had previously been convicted at Oxford Crown Court of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl. In that case, Law was sentenced in February 2002 to 12 months in prison and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a decade. Despite this prior conviction, Law was charged with rape in connection with the recent incident, but the charges were ultimately dropped because the victim was too frightened to testify.
Further details from the court indicated that Law had also been acquitted in December 1995 of raping a young mother at Oxford Crown Court. The court accepted his claim that the woman had consented, and no medical evidence of rape was presented during that trial. Interestingly, just 11 months after this acquittal, Law appeared on the popular ITV show hosted by Cilla Black, which added a layer of public notoriety to his profile.
Judge Ian Pearson delivered the sentence, emphasizing the severity of Law’s actions and the potential danger he posed to the public. He imposed an Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP), which means Law will remain incarcerated until the parole board determines he is safe to re-enter society. The minimum term set by the judge was four years. Additionally, Law received a concurrent sentence of 12 months for the possession of cannabis resin with intent to supply.
The victim’s mother expressed her profound distress and anger over Law’s release after his 2001 conviction. She stated, “To know that he has done something like this before and basically got away with it makes me feel sick.” The case has left the community and the victim’s family deeply shaken, highlighting the ongoing concerns about the safety of young girls and the importance of strict legal consequences for offenders like Johnny Law.
