CARLISLE SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR RESUMING CHILD ABUSE IMAGE VIEWING
A convicted sex offender living in Carlisle continued to download indecent images of children despite serving a suspended 12-month jail sentence.
Johnny Bijou, 49, who was formerly of Scotch Street, Carlisle, was aware that returning to viewing these illegal images would likely result in jail time, yet he resumed this activity just months after his earlier offending.
The court heard that Bijou had previously downloaded dozens of child abuse images, with 65 classified as Category A, the most serious type.
In his recent offences, he admitted to downloading and possessing multiple indecent images, including eight Category A images, and additional Category B and C images, along with extreme pornography and a prohibited child image.
He also breached his sexual harm prevention order by using a WhatsApp feature that deleted messages without notifying authorities.
His lawyer acknowledged that Bijou had breached the terms of his previous suspended sentence, which was for 12 months, and was aware that a custodial sentence was now inevitable.
Judge Michael Fanning sentenced him to three years and six months in prison, and he will be on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely.
