HIGHLAND MAN ORDERED TO ATTEND COUNSELLING AFTER HEADBUTTING PARTNER
A man from Tain, named John Quigley, aged 41, had his relationship with his partner Clare Macdonald end after he head-butted her in a fit of anger following her return home in the early hours of the morning.Court proceedings revealed that Quigley's relationship with Macdonald was already deteriorating before the incident in September.
Quigley pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to be under social work supervision for 12 months, with orders to attend alcohol and domestic abuse counseling.
Additionally, Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov issued a two-year non-harassment order banning Quigley from approaching or contacting Macdonald.
According to court reports, Macdonald had gone out with a friend on September 10 and didn't return until the early hours of September 11.
During this time, Quigley sent her multiple text messages and made voice calls, shouting insults and abusive language at her, and instructing her to come home.
When Macdonald returned, Quigley assaulted her by head-butting and pushing her.
The defense argued that the relationship was already strained, with concerns about her being out late in a rough area.
