HIGHLAND PUB MANAGER JAILED FOR GROOMING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEENAGE BOYS
A Highland pub manager who gained the trust of teenage boys by providing them with alcohol and cigarettes before sexually abusing them has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.Alan Nimmons, who was in charge of the Railway Hotel in Tain, was found guilty of abusing four young victims over a period of 10 years.
The sheriff at Inverness Sheriff Court, Sara Matheson, described the offences as a serious case of predatory sexual conduct.
In addition to the prison sentence, Nimmons was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
The court detailed that the offences took place between 2008 and 2018.
One of the victims, now 30, recounted that he still suffers nightmares, and said: “He gets 18 months while I have to sit here with severe mental health issues about what’s happened?
I feel like I have been let down by the justice system and people like him get a slap on the wrist.
I’ve lived in mental torture for 14 years but to what end?” Three other victims also shared their distress, including a 20-year-old who was groomed from a young age and forced to perform sex acts, describing the sentence as unfair.
The victims’ parents expressed outrage at the sentencing, calling it a “slap on the wrist” and describing Nimmons as a “monster” who groomed young boys and preyed on them.
They highlighted their concern about how many other potential victims might still be out there and urged others to come forward.
Nimmons has shown no remorse and has denied his offenses.
The case emphasizes the importance of victims speaking out despite the long wait for justice.
