JOE BRADLEY OF BLACKPOOL FOUND GUILTY AFTER ABUSING PUPPY IN BLACKPOOL NEIGHBORHOOD
Joseph Bradley, a resident of Blackpool, was convicted in 2016 of cruelty towards a young puppy and engaging in threatening behavior. The incident took place at his home on 55 Willowbank Avenue, Blackpool FY4 3NE, where he was caught on camera physically abusing a 12-week-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Blue during what was reportedly the puppy's first walk outside.
According to court reports, a shop owner who witnessed the disturbing scene described how Bradley was seen dragging the puppy around and then swinging it into the air, hitting the dog against a glass bus shelter nearby.
The woman, who was nearby, heard shouting coming from across the street near a bus shelter and observed Bradley angrily speaking on his mobile phone.
She saw him visibly upset, shouting at the puppy, and then physically assaulting it by swinging it around and hitting the shelter with the dog.
Concerned by the aggressive behavior, the woman decided to intervene.
As she approached, Bradley became confrontational and threatened her, invading her personal space and displaying threatening behavior.
Her employee, who was present at the scene, confirmed that Bradley appeared furious and was acting as if the puppy was not even there, swinging it around for approximately five minutes before she stepped in to stop him.
Following the incident, a woman working in a nearby shop contacted the police.
Bradley was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
During police interviews, he claimed that the incident was part of training, stating, “It was the first time I had taken the puppy out – I was training him.” In court, the woman who witnessed the abuse testified that she was frightened by Bradley’s anger but felt compelled to intervene because she could not ignore the cruelty she was witnessing.
She described Bradley as being “mad,” and said that he acted as if the puppy was not even present, swinging it around for about five minutes before she approached him.
Bradley defended his actions by explaining that the puppy was in a harness attached to a lead and that the police had taken Blue to the vet, who confirmed that the dog had sustained no injuries.
He also insulted the shop worker, telling her she was a “busybody” and that his actions were nothing to do with her.
As a result of his behavior, Bradley was found guilty of using threatening conduct and causing suffering to Blue.
The court sentenced him to a fine of £200 and ordered him to pay £220 in costs.
Bradley’s criminal record includes multiple previous convictions, highlighting a pattern of problematic behavior.
In addition to his criminal activities, Bradley is known for running a dog-breeding business called Blackpool Bully Imports, launched in May 2020.
The business’s Instagram profile features images of dogs with cropped ears, a practice Bradley openly defends, comparing ear cropping to a child having their ears pierced, and showing no intention of hiding his stance on the matter.
