DRUNKEN GIRLFRIEND'S PARTNER JUMPED OUT OF CAR AS SHE THREATENED HIM WITH KNIFE
Drunken Jessica Bosson pulled out a knife and pointed it at her partner after a row about a mobile phone.The 26-year-old hit the man as he was driving and he pulled up outside a police station.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard she scratched his face, pulled his hair and punched him.
He got out of the car but made the mistake of getting back in.
As he was driving away she pulled out a kitchen knife and threatened to stab him.
The police became involved.
She slipped her handcuffs and officers were forced to use pava-spray to regain control of the situation.
Now Bosson has been jailed for 20 months.
Prosecutor Gurdit Singh said the victim had taken his life since the incident in July 2024.
He was in a relationship with the defendant for three years but in a statement he said he noticed a change in her demeanour towards him.
They had been out with two friends and there was a discussion about a mobile phone which had been stolen.
Mr Singh said: "The defendant proceeded to hit him while he was driving.
He pulled over outside Hanley Police Station." "The assault continued.
She scratched his face, pulled his hair and punched him in the face.
The victim could not recall how many times.
He had a black eye.
He managed to get out of the car before returning to the vehicle." "The defendant was drunk.
The victim got back in the car and began to drive.
As he was driving the defendant continued to verbally abuse him." "The defendant grabbed a small kitchen knife out and pointed it in his direction.
She said, 'I am ready to stick this in you'.
The victim was able to jump out of the car and run back to the police station." "The defendant poured alcohol over the driver's seat and threw a wheel nut at the windscreen causing it to crack.
She was outside when she threw it.
A sergeant and a police constable went out to arrest the defendant who resisted.
They put her in a van and heard a loud bang.
A panel fell off.
She was further arrested for causing criminal damage." "She managed to slip her handcuffs and forced the officers to use pava-spray to regain control of the situation." Bosson, of Melrose Avenue, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm; two charges of criminal damage and two charges of obstructing a police officer.
She was convicted after trial of possession of a bladed article in public.
Edmund Potts, mitigating, said Bosson had spent at least eight months in custody - the equivalent of 40 percent of a 20-month sentence.
She has used her time in custody proactively and has remained abstinent from alcohol.
And she has been in contact with Changing Lives who are going to assist her when she is released.
Judge Richard McConaghy said: "You were drunk when you assaulted your partner.
You became abusive and insulting towards him.
You struck him repeatedly to the face while driving the car, pulled his hair and scratched him, causing him to bleed.
He stopped outside the police station.
He made the mistake of getting back in the car to try and drive away again." "You pulled out a knife you had in your bag and threatened to stab him with it.
He got out again and ran back to the police station.
You poured alcohol over his seat and threw a wheel nut breaking the windscreen of his car." "When the police went to deal with you, you were uncooperative.
Pava-spray had to be used on you." "You have now been in custody for the last 271 days.
You have begun to straighten out your thinking, clear your alcohol intake and have used your time well."
