JEREMY JEYES FROM TELFORD SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In July 2017, Jeremy Jeyes, a resident of Armstrong Close in Telford, was handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving children. The case was heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where Jeyes faced charges that he initially denied, only to be found guilty on several counts.
Jeyes was convicted of two counts of child rape and three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The impact of his crimes was deeply felt, as reflected in a victim impact statement presented during the proceedings.
The statement highlighted the profound loss of innocence experienced by the children involved, with one victim reportedly becoming aggressive as a direct consequence of the abuse.
The court sentenced Jeyes to a total of 17 years in prison.
Specifically, he received a 13-year sentence for two counts of rape and two counts of inciting sexual activity with a child.
Additionally, he was sentenced to four years for a separate count of sexual activity with another victim, with this sentence to run consecutively to the others, thereby increasing his overall time behind bars.
Furthermore, Jeyes was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his future actions and interactions.
He will also be registered on the sex offenders register for life, a mandatory measure for such serious crimes.
To protect others, he was disqualified from working with children for the remainder of his life, emphasizing the court’s stance on safeguarding vulnerable individuals from potential harm.
