MAN SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGES
A man has received a prison sentence for child sexual offences after authorities caught him operating a drone over a primary school in Salisbury.
Jeremy Bird, aged 48 and residing on Coldharbour Lane in Salisbury, appeared before Winchester Crown Court on 28 April.
He admitted to two charges of possessing indecent images of children and of recklessly allowing an aircraft to threaten safety.
Bird was sentenced to 19 months in prison, with the sentence suspended for two years.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The case arose after police incidents on 13 September 2023, when reports indicated a drone had flown multiple times over a Salisbury primary school, following the children on the playing fields.
Around the same period, another report emerged from a different Salisbury school, where teachers observed a man recording children and attempting to converse with them during a visit to a harvest festival.
Soon after, the man was seen in a vehicle taking further photographs of children.
Police investigations linked the suspect to Jeremy Bird.
Upon arrest, authorities searched his devices and uncovered numerous indecent images of children.
Bird was subsequently charged and convicted of these offences.
