--------------------------- 2025-09-05 22:32: Joseph Marriott, aged 33, committed a sexual offence against a child in the back room of his workplace while the child's parents were out shopping.

Authorities have highlighted the bravery of the young girl, whose actions contributed significantly to the case against Marriott.

DC Billy Baker stated: “My heartfelt thanks go to the young survivor and her family for their resilience and dignity throughout this process; their support has been essential in securing justice.” Marriott was convicted on two counts related to encouraging a girl under 13 to engage in sexual acts.

He had previously admitted to violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

This week, His Honour Jason Taylor KC sentenced Marriott to ten years in prison, with an automatic release after four years and six months, followed by a five-year and six-month period on licence.

He is also mandated to follow an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and to register with police indefinitely.

The court in Swindon also ordered Marriott, of St Andrew’s Road, Salisbury, to pay a surcharge of £228 as part of the sentence handed down on Thursday.
