JEFF STEWART FROM DUNDEE ORDERED TO SHOW GOOD BEHAVIOUR AFTER CHOKING AND HARASSING EX-PARTNER

A man from Dundee, identified as Jeff Stewart, has been legally mandated to demonstrate proper conduct following a series of disturbing and abusive incidents involving his former partner. Stewart, who owns The Anchor pub located on Gray Street in Dundee, has a history of a tumultuous relationship that officially ended on Christmas Eve of the previous year. The court proceedings revealed that Stewart had engaged in physically abusive behavior, including an incident where he choked his partner while she was lying in bed. In addition to the physical violence, Stewart was found to have repeatedly sent her threatening and abusive messages over several months, specifically from October of the previous year through March of this year.

The court heard detailed accounts of Stewart’s aggressive actions, which included calling his partner derogatory names, physically grabbing her wrist, attempting to take her watch, and even sending a disturbing photograph of her vaccination letter. Prosecutor Emily Hood described how the victim’s daughter overheard Stewart threatening her mother during one of these episodes and observed him standing calmly afterward, which added to the severity of the incident.

It was also disclosed that Stewart had previously pleaded guilty to engaging in an abusive course of conduct during this period. Despite the allegations, the court acknowledged that Stewart had sought medical assistance and noted his reputation as a respected businessman involved in charitable activities within the community.

The sheriff chose to defer sentencing until August, allowing time for a social work report to be prepared. During the hearing, Stewart was ordered to remain of good behaviour, with the court emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation while recognizing the gravity of domestic abuse. The decision underscores a focus on addressing the offender’s conduct and promoting a path toward reform, rather than immediate punitive measures.
