WOMAN WITH A VIOLENT PAST SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT

A woman named Jayne Rudd, aged 32, who previously worked for a domestic abuse support charity, was convicted of launching a violent attack on her ex-boyfriend.

The court heard that she stabbed him three times after knocking a door off its hinges in January this year, just three weeks after a restraining order was granted against her.

During the incident, she slashed him on his wrist with a kitchen knife.

Rudd had a history of violent behavior towards her ex, including an incident earlier in 2023 where she was handed a suspended sentence for attacking him.

Her past offences also include attacking police officers in 2022, where she was ordered to complete community service.

A psychiatrist diagnosed her with emotionally unstable personality disorder, characterized by impulsiveness, unpredictable moods, and a tendency for self-destruction.

Her ex-partner described her as dangerous and noted that she frequently sought contact despite restraining orders, expressing fear for his safety and anxiety about future encounters.

Rudd pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breaching a restraining order.

She was sentenced to three years in prison and was given a lifetime restraining order preventing her from contacting her ex.

The court emphasized her high intelligence but also highlighted her troubled mental health history, which contributed to her actions.
