JASON WALTON OF NORTHWICH SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE AND ATTEMPTED RAPE
In a case that has shocked the community of Northwich, Jason Walton, a 29-year-old resident of Parkfield Road, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of heinous child sex offences. Walton was handed a 14-year prison sentence and was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life during a court appearance at Chester Crown Court on Monday, November 26.His conviction stems from two serious charges related to crimes committed in July 2012, involving the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 13. The charges included both rape and attempted rape, highlighting the severity of the offences. The investigation into these crimes was initiated after the victim’s mother reported the incidents to the police, prompting a thorough inquiry by law enforcement authorities.
Detective Constable Sophia Rees, of the Western Public Protection Unit, emphasized the gravity of Walton’s actions. She stated, “The nature of this man’s crimes cannot be underestimated. He preyed on a vulnerable young child who will live with this for the rest of her life. It was incredibly brave of her to come forward.”
Rees further praised the efforts of the police team involved, noting that their dedication was crucial in gathering sufficient evidence to bring Walton to trial. She underscored the importance of supporting victims of such traumatic crimes, saying, “Rape and sexual assaults are amongst the most traumatic of crimes. We want victims to be assured that we are here to help. Anyone who has been subjected to this type of crime should feel confident that they will receive the support they need from the police and other support agencies we work alongside.”
Walton’s conviction was secured after a trial at Chester Crown Court, where he was found guilty of the charges. In addition to his prison sentence, he was prohibited from working with children and was subjected to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order, further restricting his ability to pose a threat to vulnerable individuals in the future.
