JASON PASKE FROM YATE SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN YORK

In a significant case that has sent shockwaves through the local community of Yate and beyond, Jason Paske, a 40-year-old man, was handed a decade-long prison sentence at York Crown Court on January 20, 2015. The court's decision came after Paske pleaded guilty to a total of 26 charges related to the exploitation and abuse of children, highlighting the severity and breadth of his criminal activities.

Paske’s offenses included the distribution of indecent images of children, the creation of such images, and an attempt to arrange sexual activity with a schoolboy. Additionally, he was charged with perverting the course of justice, indicating efforts to obstruct or interfere with the legal process. The investigation into Paske’s activities was a collaborative effort between Avon and Somerset Police and North Yorkshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit. During the course of their inquiries, authorities identified a victim in Scarborough, which is part of North Yorkshire, and worked diligently to build a case against Paske.

The police operation that led to Paske’s arrest in May 2014 uncovered disturbing evidence of his online activities. Further investigations revealed that Paske was not acting alone; authorities have identified potential suspects in other countries, including Germany and the Czech Republic. These international leads are currently being pursued with the assistance of Interpol, emphasizing the global nature of online child exploitation crimes and the importance of international cooperation in tackling such offenses.

DC Sarah King, a member of the Internet Child Abuse Team at Avon and Somerset Constabulary, expressed her concerns about Paske’s dangerous behavior. She stated, “Paske is a prolific offender who poses a real threat to children. He has exploited children in the worst possible way and has used the internet and social media to try and access more abhorrent material for his own sexual gratification. I hope this case serves to highlight that we will work with our partner forces and agencies to bring offenders like Paske to justice.”

Similarly, Detective Constable Nigel Pepper from North Yorkshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit in Scarborough commented on the case, describing Paske as “a truly horrendous and perverted man who is a menace to society.” He emphasized the importance of protecting the public from individuals like Paske, especially in an era where the internet and social media can be exploited for criminal purposes. Detective Pepper added, “It is very satisfying for everyone involved in the investigation that Paske is now behind bars for a long time,” underscoring the relief and sense of justice achieved through this prosecution.
