YATE MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE NAMED AND SHAMED
A local man from Yate has been sentenced to prison for domestic abuse.Anthony Whiffen, aged 47 and living in Dowsell Way, admitted to a charge of actual bodily harm against a woman.
The incident happened at a residence in Emersons Green on September 3.
The case was brought before Bristol Magistrates Court on October 18, where he was sentenced to six months (26 weeks) behind bars.
The court documentation states that the length of the sentence was due to the extent of injuries sustained by the woman and the fact that the attack occurred within a domestic environment.
Whiffen was also required to pay a £154 surcharge.
Following his conviction, the Gazette sought to obtain his image from Avon and Somerset Police.
