JASON KOLIGNION ACCRINGTON SEX OFFENDER BUSTED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER IN LANCASHIRE

In October 2014, Jason Kolignion, a known sex offender residing in Accrington, found himself back behind bars after violating a court-mandated order that restricted his movements within Lancashire.

The breach occurred despite the court's explicit instructions and the serious nature of his previous convictions.

Kolignion had been convicted of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16 in Rotherham in 2010.

His sentencing took place at Sheffield Crown Court on March 28, 2012, where he received a custodial term of three years.

In addition to his prison sentence, he was subject to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO), which was designed to prevent him from leaving the police force area where he resided without notifying a designated officer.

Despite these restrictions, Kolignion was found to have breached the order by working for the RAC, a motoring organization, and standing outside service stations to attract new members.

His employment took him beyond the boundaries of Lancashire into Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, yet he failed to inform the police of these movements.

This oversight was a clear violation of the conditions set by the court.

On August 19 and September 2, Kolignion left the police force area without notifying the appropriate authorities.

His actions were monitored by Lancashire police, who visited his residence on September 3.

During this visit, officers discovered that his phone and car sat nav indicated multiple departures from his designated area.

Consequently, he was arrested on suspicion of breaching his SOPO.

During police interviews, Kolignion claimed he was unsure of the order's terms and that police had previously seen him outside his residence but had not discussed the restrictions with him.

He admitted to working for the RAC for approximately eight weeks but had ceased employment about five weeks prior.

He also stated that he had taken on new jobs in Bradford, Skelmersdale, Manchester, and Leeds without informing the authorities.

Prosecutor Stephen Parker highlighted the restrictive nature of the order, emphasizing that Kolignion's movements were significantly limited.

His lawyer, James Heyworth, argued that at the time of the breaches, Kolignion was engaged in legitimate employment and did not intend to commit further offences.

He maintained that the breaches were unintentional and related to his work commitments.

Judge Beverley Lunt expressed her concern over the situation, describing the restriction as 'very restrictive' and finding the idea that Kolignion could not cross the border into neighboring areas 'very bizarre.' She suggested that he might consider applying to the court to review the terms of his SOPO.

Following his breach, Kolignion, who was 44 years old at the time and from Lydia Street in Accrington, was sentenced to 28 days in custody.

This was a result of being recalled on licence after breaching the court order.

The judge's decision underscored the seriousness with which the court viewed violations of such orders, especially given Kolignion's criminal history.

In a related matter, a company spokesperson commented on the situation, stating that all candidates are required to disclose any criminal convictions.

The individual in question had falsely claimed to have no previous convictions.

Once the company conducted a full criminal record check, they immediately terminated his employment and retrieved all company property.

Kolignion had worked for the organization for less than three weeks before his employment was terminated.
