BOLTON MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER WITH PREVIOUS VIOLENT HISTORY
A Bolton man named Jason Johnston, aged 38, was involved in a violent assault where he punched his partner in the eye and kicked her in the mouth, causing her significant injuries including displaced teeth, a concussion, and excruciating pain.
The incident occurred after a house party on February 12, during which Johnston first punched her and later returned to the house, stormed out, and then came back to assault her again.
His actions were described as part of a pattern of abuse over the last three years, including previous incidents of verbal and physical violence, harassment, and breaches of restraining orders.
The court heard that Johnston has a history of police callouts related to his behavior, with 38 police reports over 12 years.
During sentencing on September 11, Johnston pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and assault by beating.
He was sentenced to 35 months in prison and a restraining order was granted against him for five years.
Johnston expressed some remorse, stating to the court, "I did damage to her teeth and I am sorry for that, but everything else is made up."
