JASON JOHNSON OF ISLEWORTH SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN KINGSTON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Isleworth and Kingston, Jason Johnson, a 30-year-old man residing on Kings Terrace in Isleworth, was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison following his conviction for multiple counts of sexual assault against a young girl. The court proceedings revealed a deeply troubling pattern of abuse that took place over a period of time, involving a vulnerable 12-year-old girl who was under Johnson's alleged influence and manipulation.According to court records, the incidents occurred in September 2012, during a night when the girl, who had been drinking a bottle of vodka after an argument with her mother, was left alone in her home. Her two younger brothers were asleep in the next room at the time. It was during this vulnerable state that Johnson, who was acting as her babysitter, committed the first of his alleged assaults. The court heard that Johnson raped the girl while she was intoxicated, and she was so impaired that she was drifting in and out of consciousness. The prosecution described how the girl attempted to defend herself, trying to close her legs, but Johnson reportedly restrained her by placing his knees between her legs. Despite her protests and attempts to resist, Johnson continued his assault.
Gareth Munday, the prosecutor, detailed that the girl later confided that she might be pregnant as a result of the assault. Johnson, the court was told, responded by 'blocking her out' and attempting to coach her on what to say if questioned by police. The situation worsened when, a few days later, the girl underwent an abortion at approximately eight weeks of pregnancy. The court heard that Johnson had sex with her again shortly after the termination, despite her expressing pain and distress. During this second encounter, Johnson reportedly told her that the situation was her fault, demonstrating a callous and manipulative attitude.
Judge Susan Tapping, presiding over the case, condemned Johnson's actions, emphasizing the betrayal of trust involved. She stated, “You abused the trust placed in you by the girl’s mother by raping her while she was under the influence of alcohol. On the day she had her abortion, you told her it was her fault and quite unbelievably had sex with her again. That demonstrates how utterly selfish and manipulative you are in your behaviour.” The judge also highlighted the long-term impact of the abuse, noting that the girl had been told she might not be able to have children in the future.
In his defense, Anthony Wilcken acknowledged Johnson’s previous criminal record, which included convictions for arson and theft in 2008, but emphasized that Johnson had no prior sexual offences. Johnson was questioned by police following the allegations but initially denied any wrongdoing. It was nearly a year before the victim cooperated with authorities, leading to Johnson’s eventual arrest and charges. He pleaded guilty on his third court appearance, avoiding a trial.
Johnson was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for each of the two counts of rape and six years for the count of sexual activity with a minor, with all sentences to run concurrently. Additionally, he was subjected to a lifelong sexual offences prevention order, which prohibits him from working with children in any capacity. The case has left a lasting scar on the community, raising serious concerns about safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable minors from predators like Johnson.
