2017: ROWLEY REGIS THUG JAILED AFTER UNPROVOKED GBH ATTACK ON DISABLED MAN
A man named Jason Hillman, aged 39 and intoxicated at the time, was found guilty of causing serious bodily injury following a street assault in which he delivered a forceful punch that fractured the jaw of Darren Cartwright, a man with disabilities. The assault was described by the court as completely unprovoked.
Hillman, residing on Dudhill Road, denied the charges but received a sentence of 15 months’ imprisonment at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The assault had a lasting impact on Mr.
Cartwright, who now suffers from disabilities and has become too frightened to leave his house, due to the trauma he experienced.
In addition to the attack, Hillman also assaulted police officers by head-butting a police vehicle after his arrest, claiming he acted in self-defense, a claim rejected by the jury.
Mr.
Cartwright, who had previously suffered a stroke, was left unconscious and required hospital treatment following the attack, which took place as he was returning home from a nightclub.
