Jason Conde, aged 41, attacked his former partner by stabbing her six times using a tyre puncture repair tool, and later burned his clothing in a wooded area.
The event occurred on May 9 of the previous year, when the woman, who is the mother of one of Conde's children, visited his residence to address a parenting dispute, according to prosecutor Gary Venturi at Croydon Crown Court.
Conde said he believed she was “looking for trouble” and claimed she possessed a police-style baton.
However, the woman denied having any weapon.
During the confrontation, a physical altercation ensued, and the victim was struck multiple times with heavy blows to her body.
Unbeknownst to her at the time, Conde had stabbed her six times with a sharp tyre repair tool.
His attack ceased when the woman started coughing blood, the court was told.
Conde received a prison sentence of three years and four months.
