JASON BEYNON'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN SWANSEA: A DECADE OF ABUSE AND ABDUCTION NIGHTMARE

In a series of deeply disturbing criminal acts spanning over two decades, Jason Beynon, also known as Jenson Taylor, has been convicted of multiple heinous offenses committed in Swansea and its surrounding areas.

His criminal history includes repeated sexual assaults, attempted abductions, and grooming of young boys, leaving a trail of trauma and heartbreak.

It was only after the victim, who endured years of abuse, read newspaper reports about Beynon’s other crimes that he found the courage to come forward and report his ordeal.

The Swansea Crown Court heard that during the late 1990s, when Beynon was just 22 years old, he systematically groomed a young boy who was experiencing difficulties at home and was being bullied at school.

The defendant pretended to be a friend, offering sweets and taking the boy for rides in his car, all the while gaining his trust.

Over the course of several months, Beynon subjected the boy to repeated sexual assaults and rapes, threatening him with violence if he ever disclosed what was happening.

The victim only disclosed the abuse in 2014 during a counseling session.

The following year, after reading about Beynon’s abuse of another young boy in the newspapers, he decided to report the crimes to the police.

Beynon, who resides on The Strand in Swansea, pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape during his sentencing hearing.

The court heard how the impact of the abuse devastated the victim’s life.

In a statement read aloud by the prosecutor, the man described how Beynon “took away my childhood and my confidence.” He explained that he struggled to form meaningful relationships, attempted to take his own life, and was only saved by a dog walker who encountered him and engaged him in conversation.

The victim expressed feelings of guilt for not reporting the abuse sooner, lamenting the years lost to silence.

Further back in Beynon’s criminal record, the court revealed that in 2014, he was jailed for 42 months after attempting to abduct a schoolboy in Gorseinon.

Beynon, then known by the surname Beynon, engaged the young boy in a conversation about tree houses before forcibly pushing him into his car.

Fortunately, the terrified child managed to escape and alert authorities.

This incident, widely reported in the media, prompted another victim to come forward, revealing that he had been sexually abused by Beynon in the 1990s.

As a result, Beynon received an additional 30-month sentence for gross indecency and serious sexual assaults on a teenage boy, with this sentence to run consecutively to his previous term.

Judge Geraint Walters acknowledged the complexity of sentencing Beynon, considering the multiple offenses and their cumulative severity.

He estimated that, had Beynon been tried for all the crimes, the starting point would have been a 15-year sentence.

After accounting for his guilty plea, which spared the victims from testifying, the judge reduced this to 12 years.

Deducting the six years Beynon had already served, the court arrived at a final figure of six years.

Nonetheless, the judge classified Beynon as a dangerous offender under legislation, imposing an extended sentence of nine years—comprising six years in prison and three years on license.

Beynon is eligible to apply for parole after serving two-thirds of his custodial term, but release will depend on whether authorities determine he no longer poses a threat.

In April 2015, Beynon, then 41 and residing in Swansea, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for attempting to abduct an 11-year-old boy in Gorseinon.

The incident occurred on Frampton Road, where Beynon approached the boy, engaged him in conversation about tree houses, and then tried to force him into his car.

The boy managed to escape and alert his family, leading to Beynon’s arrest.

Beynon initially denied the charges but later pleaded guilty, with the court warning him of the likelihood of a lengthy prison sentence.

Earlier that year, in February 2015, Beynon was convicted of sexually assaulting another child over 20 years prior.

He was 16 at the time and had befriended a younger boy, with the offenses taking place over an 18-month period.

The first incident reportedly occurred in the toilets of a holiday park during a holiday.

The victim, who came forward after hearing about Beynon’s earlier conviction, explained that he felt compelled to speak out after seeing media reports about Beynon’s attempt to abduct an 11-year-old in Gorseinon in 2014.

The victim described their relationship as a “secret relationship,” with Beynon manipulating him into believing it was a romantic connection, despite the age difference and the inappropriate nature of their interactions.

In September 2014, Beynon admitted to attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old boy on Frampton Road, Gorseinon.

The young victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, shouted for help after escaping Beynon’s car, exclaiming, “Someone has just tried to kidnap me.” Beynon, who has a history of relevant convictions, was remanded in custody and later pleaded guilty to the abduction charge.

His sentencing is scheduled for October 3, after reports into his background are prepared.

Throughout the proceedings, Beynon maintained a stoic demeanor, even attempting to argue that the boy fell into his car rather than being forcibly pushed in, but the court rejected this claim.

These series of convictions and sentences highlight a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior by Jason Beynon in Swansea, leaving a lasting scar on his victims and the community.

His crimes, spanning decades, reveal a calculated and relentless pursuit of young boys, with the justice system now taking significant steps to ensure he remains incarcerated and monitored for the safety of the public.
