JARRID DUFF SENTENCED IN DUMFRIES FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGER
A 25-year-old man named Jarrid Duff, who committed a disturbing sexual assault in Dumfries, has been handed a significant prison sentence after admitting to the heinous acts. The incident, which took place on January 13 at a residence in Dumfries, involved the assault and rape of a 14-year-old girl. During the attack, Duff's violent behavior extended beyond the physical assault; he also prevented the young victim from seeking help by forcibly ripping off her smartwatch as she attempted to call the police for assistance.In court proceedings held at the High Court in Glasgow, Duff pleaded guilty to charges of assault and rape. His guilty plea resulted in a reduction of his initial sentence, which would have been ten years, to a seven-year term. Additionally, he was ordered to be supervised for three years following his release from prison. The court heard that on the day of the assault, Duff's behavior was notably erratic, which made the victim feel extremely uncomfortable and frightened. She tried to leave the room, but Duff physically restrained her, forcing her to strip. The prosecutor, Lorraine Glancy KC, detailed the horrifying sequence of events, stating that Duff accused the girl of being at fault, telling her that if she refused to comply, he would kill her. According to the prosecutor, the victim was violently slammed onto a bed, and Duff forcibly removed her clothing while she was crying and scared. He also threatened to suffocate her with a pillow, pressing it over her face, which made her feel as if she was about to die.
