MAN JAILED FOR ABUSING TWO WOMEN
A Dumfries man has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being convicted of a series of brutal crimes involving two women, with some offences dating back to 2013.Stevie Murray, 35, of Mannering Avenue, denied the allegations but was found guilty after a court trial at the sheriff court in the town.
From January 2013 to June 2019, Murray committed multiple assaults on the first woman, including injuries that put her life at risk, at locations including Dalswinton Avenue.
His abusive behaviour involved hitting her on the head, choking her by grabbing her neck, restricting her breathing, pushing her onto a bed, and repeatedly trying to punch, spit on, headbutt, and slap her.
He also pinned her to a hospital bed, chased her, threw her down stairs, sat on her during an attack, choked her further, and hit her head against the floor.
Between December 2021 and December 2022, at Dalswinton Avenue, Locharbriggs, and other sites, Murray exhibited controlling conduct towards another woman.
His actions included derogatory comments, influencing her appearance, accusing her of affairs, and making threats of self-harm if she ended the relationship.
He compelled her to delete all social media, checked her underwear, kept the bathroom door open while she bathed, and threatened harm to her unborn child.
Murray’s sentence includes a ten-year ban on any contact with his victims.
