MIDLOTHIAN EX-SOLDIER JAILED AFTER REINSTALLING TIKTOK AND TEXTING ON FACEBOOK
A former soldier from Midlothian who violated a sexual offences prevention order for the tenth time has been sentenced to over a year in prison.Shaun Jewiss was subject to strict conditions under the order following a series of disturbing attacks on women, including rape and sexual assault.
The court’s order prohibited him from engaging in relationships with women without approval beforehand and barred him from installing or deleting applications on his electronic devices.
Jewiss who served in the military from 1990 to 2013, with deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Northern Ireland repeatedly violated this order by deleting and reinstalling the TikTok app on his phone.
Police also found that he had contacted eight women through Facebook Messenger during a device inspection earlier this year.
Jewiss’s first imprisonment was in 2014 after being convicted of crimes including rape and sexual assault.
He violated the order again in 2018, resulting in a 10-month sentence.
Subsequent breaches in 2020 earned him another 10 months behind bars.
His latest violation in March 2026 led to a 13-month sentence, which was made backdate to March 4 of the same year, after authorities uncovered chat logs with eight women and evidence of reinstalling TikTok.
He appeared before the court on June 23, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced by Sheriff Graeme Watson.
The court emphasized his history of multiple breaches and the continuing threat he poses to public safety.
