BASILDON THUG WHO TRIED TO STAB GIRLFRIEND IN THE NECK JAILED!
A man from Basildon who assaulted his partner by brandishing a knife to her throat and repeatedly threatening to kill her has received a prison sentence.Jamie Vaughan, aged 40 and residing on Rookyards, lost his temper after consuming alcohol and cocaine, suspecting that his partner was looking at other men.
Court evidence included photographs showing injuries to the victim’s neck caused by Vaughan wielding a knife.
When police arrived to arrest Vaughan, he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer.
During the police incident, Vaughan took his partner and threatened her, saying, “Just wait ‘til we get home.
I’m going to kill you,” and later, at their residence, issued another threat, stating, “I will kill you before the police arrive,” before grabbing a kitchen knife, pushing her in the head, and pressing the blade against her throat.
Vaughan also assaulted an officer attempting to detain him.
The judge, Shane Collery KC, dismissed a probation report that recommended Vaughan be released to undergo emotional regulation therapy, stating that Vaughan’s violence stemmed from intoxication, not mental health issues like anxiety or depression.
His criminal record includes 17 convictions dating back to 2001, involving offenses such as battery, common assault, and actual bodily harm.
His most recent previous conviction in 2022 resulted in a nine-month prison sentence for ABH.
Vaughan was sentenced to 18 months for the threats to kill, with additional concurrent sentences for police assault and other charges.
Courts deemed him a high risk of causing serious harm and made it clear that making threats of murder with a weapon warrants imprisonment rather than community-based sanctions.
