FELIXSTOWE MAN FOUND GUILTY OF VOYEURISM AFTER BEING CLEARED OF RAPE
A man accused of filming himself having sex with two women while they were asleep or had blacked out has been cleared of rape but convicted of voyeurism.Before Ipswich Crown Court on Monday was 40-year-old Jamie Thompson, of James Boden Close, Felixstowe.
He had denied three offences of rape, two offences of voyeurism and one offence of sexual assault.
On Monday, he was cleared of the three offences of rape but found guilty of the two offences of voyeurism.
Judge David Wilson had earlier directed the jury to return a not guilty verdict on the charge of sexual assault.
The court heard that Thompson had been in custody awaiting his trial and had served the equivalent of a 12-month sentence.
Judge Wilson adjourned sentence until October 23 and granted Thompson conditional bail.
During Thomson’s trial, the public were excluded from court while graphic sexual videos were shown to the jury.
Lynne Shirley, prosecuting, claimed that one of the alleged victims had told Thompson to “stop” twice while they were having consensual sex, but he had ignored her.
She claimed that Thompson had also filmed himself having sex with the woman and her eyes can be seen to be closed during the recording.
When the woman was shown the video recording she said she was asleep and hadn’t consented to having sex with Thompson.
The second alleged victim was traced after a video clip of Thompson touching her sexually was found on his phone following his arrest.
She said the touching had started consensually but there had come a time when she said "no".
The woman said she hadn’t realised she was being filmed and hadn’t consented to him doing that.
She told police that on one occasion she had blacked out after drinking wine and had woken up to find him having sex with her.
