FELIXSTOWE RAPIST ANDREW GRINHAM JAILED FOR 13 YEARS
A 48-year-old man from Felixstowe, Andrew Grinham, has been convicted of raping and assaulting a vulnerable woman.
Sentenced to 13 years in prison, Judge David Pugh described him as a "misogynistic bully" and labeled him a "dangerous" offender.
During the sentencing, it was stated that Grinham had raped the woman, hit her head on a cupboard, strangled her, and kicked her after punching her to the floor.
In addition to the prison term, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order until further notice, required to sign the sex offenders register for the same duration, and banned from contacting the victim indefinitely.
Prosecutor Lynne Shirley detailed how Grinham used his legs and body weight to hold the woman down during the assault, also throttling her and causing her to black out.
The victim's impact statement revealed her loss of trust in others because of what she endured.
Grinham was convicted of two counts of anal rape and three of assault causing actual bodily harm following a trial in May.
The court highlighted his health issues and his assertion of innocence by defense counsel Aneurin Brewer, who pointed out the delay in the case.
The judge emphasized his dangerousness and sentenced him to serve two-thirds of the term before potential parole consideration.
